The 40th edition of the Prix de Lausanne 2012 will be held from January 29th to February 4th 2012, at the Théâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne.

Events open to the public:

  • Lecture demonstration: Tuesday, January 31st, 2012, 5.00 pm to 6.15 pm, free of charge
  • Contemporary classes: Tuesday, January 31st, from 9.15 am to 4.00 pm
  • Classical classes: Wednesday, February 1st, from 8.15 am to 2.45 pm
  • Coaching of classical variations: Thursday, February 2nd, from 8.45 am to 8.00 pm
  • Classical and contemporary variations in front of jury: Friday, February 3rd (15-16-year-olds , 9.45 am to 12.00 am, 17-18-year-olds, 1.15 pm to 4.30 pm)
  • Finals: Saturday, February 4th, 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm (20 finalists: classical and contemporary variations in front of jury), "Interlude Performances" by the London Royal Ballet  School and the Danish Royal Ballet School
  • Gala: Sunday, February 5th, at 5.00 pm

Tickets:

  • January 31st to February 2nd: 10 Swiss francs per day, free for children 7-15 years (children under 7 not admitted), tickets on sale on the spot only
  • Friday, February 3rd: 20 Swiss francs, morning and 20 Swiss francs, afternoon, free for children 7-15 years (children under 7 not admitted), tickets on sale at the Lausanne Opéra box office or at the Beaulieu Theater the day of
  • From Tuesday to Friday tickets on sale on the spot only, free for children 7-15 years (children under 7 not admitted)
  • For the Finals on Saturday, February 4th: 20 to 90 Swiss francs (children under 7 not admitted)
  • For the Gala on Sunday, February 5th: 50 and 100 Swiss francs on www.prixdelausanne.org/gala

Prix de Lausanne History

Everything began to take shape in the spring of 1972, not on the shores of Lake Léman, but beside a swimming pool in Cannes. Philippe Braunschweig, his wife Elvire, and Rosella Hightower were excitedly discussing their new project, the launch of the first competition for young dancers, scheduled for 1973.
