Candidates selected for the 2009
October 08
192 candidates (150 girls and 42 boys), representing 32 different nationalities, applied to participate in the DVD selection that took place last October 11-12.
The assessing panel for the qualifying round of the competition was made up of the Prix's artistic committee, with support from a group of dance experts, each of whom meets the criteria for membership of a Prix de Lausanne jury. The names of the artistic committee members and the jury selection criteria can be found here.
The assessing panel’s goal was to identify the career potential of each candidate. Whilst advanced technical skills were taken into account, dancers were not judged solely on their achievements to date, but on whether the panel observed the potential the panel believe necessary to succeed within a dancing career.
Following this process, we are very pleased to inform you that the panel have selected 75 young dancers (53 girls and 22 boys), representing 21 different nationalities, to go through to the next stage of the competition, which will take place in Lausanne from January 27 to February 1, 2009. You can see who they are here.
In addition, three candidates were selected at our pre-selection session for Latin American dancers, organised by Danzamerica in Argentina. They are Noelia Garrigos, Carolina Coelho Pais and Oliveira Luiza de Marques. .
Three more candidates, prize-winners from the competition in Seoul and from the Youth America Grand Prix, will participate in the Prix de Lausanne without going through the DVD selection. They are Chae-Eun Yang, Ki-min Kim and de Skylar Campbell.
We would like to congratulate all these candidates and wish them all the best for their preparation in the next coming months.
Train with the world’s best and make a jump into a successful career!
